Richard Tucker Foundation 50th Anniversary Gala – November 9, 2025
This concert marks the first time that the Richard Tucker Gala travels beyond New York. It also celebrates the 50th anniversary of this historic institution, which has helped launch so many of today’s—and yesterday’s—great opera stars
A few examples of superstar artists fostered by the Foundation include Renée Fleming, Deborah Voigt, and Nadine Sierra—all recipients of the prestigious Richard Tucker Award, whose careers rose to international prominence thanks in part to the Foundation’s support.
We are rendering homage to the Richard Tucker Foundation by inviting star bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green, a three-time Grammy Award–winner, celebrated internationally at the Met and Santa Fe Opera. His recent achievements include a widely praised debut as Wotan in Wagner’s Die Walküre at Santa Fe Opera—one of the most vocally demanding roles in the repertoire—and a transformative performance in Champion at the Met, where he famously reshaped his own life and artistry to embody the role of a prizefighter.
Joining him is tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz, one of his generation’s leading tenors, who has performed more than 60 roles in over 30 countries, from La Scala to Carnegie Hall. Winner of Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition, his awards also include the International Opera Awards’ Readers’ Award and the Moncayo Medal. Beyond the stage, he serves as an ambassador for Beyond Celiac, combining artistry with philanthropy
To honor Richard Tucker’s Jewish legacy as both a world-renowned tenor and a cantor, we have invited superstar cantor Netanel Hershtik. He was the first cantor to perform at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Kennedy Center, and the United Nations, where he sang at a Holocaust Remembrance ceremony. He also broke new ground as the first cantor to take on an operatic role, in Mamzer Bastard at the Royal Opera.
The gala will also feature Monique Galvão and Sarah Joy Miller, star of HBO’s The Gilded Age and FGO’s upcoming Silent Night. With this extraordinary cast, we celebrate Richard Tucker himself, who once sang at Florida Grand Opera and remains one of the greatest American tenors of all time.
Because this evening falls on the anniversary of Kristallnacht, it will serve as both a commemoration and a celebration of resilience. At the same time, FGO will officially launch the Voice of Wellness program, dedicated to first responders, nurses, and veterans. Fittingly, during National Veterans Month, we begin with a musical tribute to those who serve and heal.
This all takes place at the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center, in what promises to be an exquisite celebration of music, memory, and community—complete with special surprises.
